The Holmen Area Fire Department partnered with Five Bugles Design, a Wendel Companies firm, to complete a fire station planning study focused on ensuring high-quality emergency services for the community now and into the future.

The study evaluated current and projected future service needs through a GIS-based analysis to determine the appropriate number and locations of fire stations needed to meet national fire protection guidelines. It also included an assessment of the department’s existing fire station and an analysis of space needs with conceptual planning for a new headquarters fire station.

This planning effort matters to residents because fire station location(s), response times, and facility design directly impact how quickly and effectively firefighters and emergency medical responders can reach homes, businesses, and schools during emergencies. The study provides local leaders with data-driven information to help make informed decisions about public safety investments, community growth, and the responsible use of taxpayer resources.

The study report was completed in December 2025. The study conclusion and recommendations are detailed on pages 77 and 78 of the report. The included links provide access to sections of the report for public review.
